In recent years, a very dangerous virus transmitted by mosquito bite has been discovered. It is the Zika

Zika virus fever is an asymptomatic illness in many cases, manifesting in most sick people with mild rashes or redness, mild fever, or frequent headaches, joint pain, and conjunctivitis. These symptoms are also common to the Dengue virus, with which Zika is often confused.

It becomes a great danger with regard to pregnant women in particular. In fact, it has been observed that this disease can cause microcephaly in the baby, as it is able to pass into the amniotic fluid. In addition, it is sexually transmissible, making unprotected intercourse risky.

There is still no vaccine or specific treatment for this disease, so great care is recommended if you are in one of the areas affected by this virus, or if you are heading to these places. WHO, the World Health Organization, which is concerned precisely with these human health hazards, advises against travel to South America, an area of greatest spread of the Zika virus.

Although there is still no risk of outbreaks in Europe, WHO is calling for the utmost care to prevent this virus from spreading. Mosquitoes, which are the vehicle of this dangerous disease, do not fly more than 400 meters, so they do not have the ability to move on their own from one continent to another, but we know that in spite of themselves they are transported inside containers, suitcases and various means of transportation.

This is precisely how tiger mosquitoes, a very aggressive type of mosquito that has now spread throughout Europe, came to us. As it changed, the mosquito adapted to less warm climates, became quieter and more resistant, and began to “hunt” during the daytime as well. If we combine these characteristics with the risks of infection, we realize the great danger this insect has become. Using the right precautions then becomes essential to protect oneself.
